PORKYMON
A downloadable game for Windows
This project is my submission for Starman.net's MOTHER 3 20th Anniversary Funfest contest.
This game is a rougelike JRPG dungeon crawler in which you survive a randomly-generated cavern dungeon by recruiting and training Chimera allies!
It's designed to be fairly challenging, requiring you to use your limited resources wisely in order to make progress. Dungeon monsters, treasures, layouts, traps, and paths are randomized so you never know what to expect. The game remembers each floor you've been to, so monsters you've slain stay gone.
You can return to the surface and visit the shops to prepare for your next visit to the cave. Buy food and equipment from the PorkyMart, whose wares are randomly assigned new each day. You can talk with the townsfolk to get some advice, and you might even find some goodies lying around...
Check out the PorkyCenter! There, you can take Chimeras you've trained and combine them together to make even more powerful allies. Every monster in the game can be tamed, and there are over 50 different ones in all, making for endless possible combinations. Come up with wacky Chimeras like the "Really Flying Yam", "Zombie Tree", "Dung Drago", and many more! Create the perfect ally to help you conquer the Cave of the Pig King.
I crammed this game full of so much content and features that there wasn't time to test for every possible scenario you could encounter, so expect some jank. This game is also designed to be challenging. As the game is random, you will not be able to easily defeat every monster you encounter, and may have to return to them in order to best them.
There are 50 floors for you to explore. Are you a bad enough dude to reach the bottom?
